Part Number Explanation

Military part numbers starting with 'M' are common to all brands.
We can supply virtually any brand in the Military range.

Overview:
MIL-C-26482 connectors offer high density contact arrangements in a miniature circular metal shell.  They use a quick disconnect bayonet coupling for rapid positive mating and are environmentally sealed. Mil-C-26482 series 2 are intermateable, inter-mountable and interchangeable with Mil-C-26482 series 1. This particular series is the most recent version of the Mil-C-26482 family and some of the specifications are better than series 1. The rear of the connectors in series 2 has been re-designed to accept a variety of Mil-C-85049 backshells which need to be ordered separately.

Features:

Rugged Shell
Aluminum alloy shell and hardware create a rugged connector with minimal weight. These connectors have been extensively used in commercial, military and aerospace environments. Standard shells accept all MIL-C-26482 series 2 accessories.

Crimp Snap-in gold plated contacts
Closed-entry socket contacts eliminate damage from abuse by test probes and help to correct any misaligned pins during engagement.
A metal contact retaining clip/sleeve is embedded into the body of the connector to give secure contact retention.
Contact insertion is accomplished from the rear of the connector. When the contact is fully inserted, the clip tines snap securely behind the contact shoulder.
Contact extraction is accomplished with a rear-inserted extraction tool.

Good current and voltage capabilities
Up to 23 amps with wire gauges from size 24 up to size 12 AWG wire. Some are rated at 1500Vac and others at 2300Vac (sea level)

Environmentally sealed on 4 levels
The shell seal is achieved when the plug shell pushes against the sealing ring in the receptacle when the connectors are mated.
The peripheral seal around the edge of the pin insulator is designed so that mating the connector puts tension on the seal and greatly reduces compression set.
The inter-facial seal is achieved by the insulator faces meeting when the plug and receptacle are mated.
The wire seal is accomplished by a multiple ripple design.

Very wide temperature range.
These connectors will operate in temperatures from -55° to + 200°C under the harshest possible conditions.

Accept standard M85049 backshells
Backshells are sold separately for this series. There is a wide variety backshell types available in the Mil-C-M85049 range. These include simple cheap strain relief’s, heat-shrink boot adapters, gland seals and EMI/RFI backshells.

Choice of Finishes
These connectors are available in olive drab over cadmium, nickel or black anodized finishes.
